Visits 2007
The highlights of last academic year were the visits of some VIP at FACTEB. First, in early July, Lau came to Congo with a group of five friends from Canada. In the context of what we're calling "Friends of Boma," they came on an exploratory trip, just wanting to know what the Lord is doing in Congo and how they can be part of it. The focus of the trip of the "Friends of Boma" was, of course, FACTEB. They not only were able to attend our graduation ceremony (in a typical African way), but they were also able to conduct work sessions with faculty and students. Their time in Boma was also put to use, doing a complete inventory of FACTEB's current needs in terms of infrastructure.
FACTEB also received the visit of President Benedict (the President of the US C&MA) with Vice President Bob Fetherlin and the Brauns (Chris and Marcia) who were in Congo to attend Synod at Kinkonzi.
Last but not least, we also received the visit of Rene and Cecilia Holvast, former Dutch missionaries in Mali, and currently involved in doctoral studies at Utrecht. They came to explore the possibility of joining our team at FACTEB. We spent a quite enjoyable time together, doing our best to present to them a realistic picture of our situation. It is, therefore, with great pleasure that we received word that the Holvasts have decided to effectively come to FACTEB in July 2008. They will be living right on campus with us. Praise the Lord! Pray also that whatever needs to happen between now and then will fall in place.
